When then-President Idi Amin reorganized the country, the Ankole region was dissolved as an administrative unit. The Nkore calendar was divided into 12 months. They were named based on weather conditions and activities during this period. They include it is divided into ten districts, namely: Mbarara, Bushenyi, Bouhweju, Mitooma, Rubirizi, Sheema, Ntungamo, Kiruhura, Ibanda and Isingiro. Due to Idi Amin`s reorganization of the country, Ankole no longer exists as an administrative entity.
